Mrs. Florence Beamish

Florence May Beamish of Lashburn, Saskatchewan had a long history of association with the University of Saskatchewan and was a great supporter of the College of Agriculture and Bioresources.

May supported the Agriculture Building Fund during construction of the new college and most notably, made significant gifts to the Kenderdine Art Gallery. Opened in 1991, this gallery is located in the Agriculture building and is named after her father, the late Augustus F.L. Kenderdine who founded the Department of Art and Art History at the U of S. The Kenderdine Art Gallery provides a venue to showcase the university's art collection which has been growing since the first acquisition in 1911. The majority of the Kenderdine paintings in this collection, as well as archival material, was donated by May herself.

May passed away in 1998 on her 100th birthday.
